Agri-food production is one of the most important sectors of the Polish economy and at the same time one of the Polish specializations in the international arena. On the domestic market, the demand for feed is systematically increasing, which is due to, among others, from increasing poultry production.
Feed is a product of plant, animal or mineral origin, as well as a substance obtained through chemical or biological transformations, rich in nutrients, constituting food for animals. The application of appropriate feed additives guarantees the proper development and condition of the animals.
The role of fat in poultry production is growing steadily. The breeding of modern poultry requires the use of fodder highly concentrated in terms of energy and protein in the nutrition of chickens. Satisfying energy needs is possible, among others thanks to the use of vegetable fats and oil seeds.
Vegetable fats are the basic high-energy component of the diet of animals and humans. It has been observed that the best results are obtained when greasing with vegetable oils, which improve feed utilization, increase weight gain of chickens and have a positive effect on the taste of the meat. Vegetable oils are characterized by a high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially a-linolenic acid from the n-3 family and linoleic acid from the n-6 family. These acids are essential fatty acids, which means that they cannot be synthesized in the body of animals and therefore must be provided with food. It is also worth adding that vegetable oils, rich in long-chain fatty acids, when added to feed, effectively modify the fatty acid composition of the lipid fraction of poultry products. Thus, they improve the dietary value of meat and eggs.

VEGETABLE OILS
Vegetable oils are liquid fats of plant origin, obtained from seeds, fruits and also plant sprouts. The vast majority of vegetable oils are used as edible fats, but also as ingredients in cosmetics, and some of them as medicinal products. They are also used as raw materials for the production of varnish, painting and impregnation materials. Their importance in the fuel industry as raw materials for fuel production is growing. World production of vegetable oils is steadily growing.
