MPG - MONOPROPYLENE GLYCOL

Monopropylene glycol is a clear, colorless and viscous liquid with a characteristic odor, with the formula C₃H₈O₂. It dissolves in water and has hygroscopic properties which means it can attract hard water molecules.

It is used in many industries thanks to its low toxicity and low freezing point, which decreases when mixed with water.

MPG is used in the food industry for food flavorings and dyes; in the cosmetics industry in body care products, shampoos, bath lotions, moisturizing wipes and on a large scale as an antifreeze and as a de-icer for runways and aircraft wings, as well as for the production of coolants. It is also used in the production of polyester resins and as a solvent in printing inks.
